McDermott, from Essex, came out throwing the jab and a right hook that missed. He came forward to try and assert the jab on the 6'8 Price but was caught with a big right uppercut and a hook that sent him to the floor. McDermott was successful in beating the count and came back with a right hook of his own but another right saw him seeing stars once again. The game McDermott rose once more but had no answer to that nightmare right and went down for the third time in the round. Although he looked okay to continue, he failed to beat the count. McDermott briefly and quickly protested to referee, Howard Foster but realisation soon set in for him and he accepted defeat.
"It was exactly what I needed. I didn't expect to get McDermott out like that. He was a tough opponent", Price said.
When asked about a fight with Tyson Fury, Price stated, "He's a fighting man. I know he will fight me. Otherwise he's a coward."
Frank Maloney said, "I believe he will dominate the heavyweight division. He passed his A-level test. We saw the real heavyweight star born."
McDermott, disappointed but honest said, "He caught me with a good shot. I went in there to have a fight. He's a good fighter. I wish him all the luck in the world."
McDermott was asked about his future and own position in boxing and said, "I don't want to lose like that if i can help it. i don't want to be a journeyman."
