LAS VEGAS (May 17, 2012) - Unable to secure a unification title fight against the other 175-pound world champions, World Boxing Association (WBA) Light Heavyweight World Champion Beibut Shumenov returns on June 2 to make his fourth title defense against former super middleweight world title challenger Enrique Ornelas (33-7, 21 KO's) at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. in a fight that will be televised live on FOX Sports Net and FOX Deportes and will be televised on a delayed basis on FUEL TV.
From the wreckage of a rematch that never was, Amir Khan moves on, hoping to fight again soon for the world titles that should never have been taken away from him, possibly against the rising young Philadelphian Danny García on 30 June.
Lamont Peterson, meanwhile, can only contemplate a desperate future, stripped not only of the titles he took from Khan last December when doped up on a testosterone pellet embedded in his hip (a mistake his camp ludicrously described as "inadvertent"), but destined to be regarded forever as a drugs cheat and denied the chance to defend his belts against Khan in Las Vegas on 19 July.

On Thursday, June 14, DiBella Entertainment's Broadway Boxing series returns to New York City's famed Roseland Ballroom for its third installment of 2012. Headlining the card will be world-rated welterweight contender Thomas Dulorme (14-0, 11KO's), who is widely considered as one of the most promising young boxers in all of boxing, as well as Long Island's fan-favorite undefeated light heavyweight prospect, "Irish" Seanie Monaghan (13-0, 8KO's).
LOS ANGELES, May 9 - A failed pre-fight drug test administered by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA), coupled with the Nevada State Athletic Commission's (NSAC) legal inability to hold a formal hearing on the matter of licensing Lamont Peterson for his Saturday, May 19 rematch against Amir Khan until Tuesday, May 15, has forced the cancellation of the event.

What started as a rumour curdled into grim reality for Lamont Peterson, when his representatives were forced to admit after hours of claims on Twitter that the fighter had failed a drugs test.
It was uncertain late on Monday whether the admission – and the explanation – were enough to save Peterson's rematch with Amir Khan in Las Vegas on 19 May.
Peterson took Khan's WBA and IBF light-welterweight titles in his home town, Washington, last December and dithered before agreeing to give Khan a chance to get his titles back. It was not made clear when he tested positive.
David Haye and Dereck Chisora are to face each other in a fight sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation.
Chisora's manager Frank Warren told the BBC the fight would take place on 14 July at Upton Park. He later officially announced it at a news conference.
The British heavyweights were involved in a brawl following Chisora's defeat by Vitali Klitschko in Munich.
