We start our round up in the midlands with Wayne Elcock (19-3) retaining his British middleweight title after the fight was brought to a halt in the second round because of a deep cut under the eye of Darren Mcdermott (15-1-1). Mcdermott had started the fight brightly and was causing the champion problems with his straight jab, but a nasty clash of heads ended the fight with the ringside doctor telling the referee to stop the fight to the relief of Elcock’s camp and the dismay of McDermott’s camp who thought that they could have stopped the bleeding if given time. Dino Duva- No Fight In LondonDino Duva, promoter of WBC heavyweight champion Sam Peter, has denied a claim made by promoter Frank Warren that there is a deal in place for Peter to face either Matt Skelton or Audley Harrison at London's O2 Arena on July 12th. "I am stating that as of now, there is no deal," Duva wrote in an email, "I am working on different options right now for Sam for July, and a fight in the UK is one of them." Welterweight title with a spirited, hard fought, 12 round unanimous decsion over previously undefeated Lanardo Tyner (19-1 11KO) by scores of 118-110 twice, and 116-112. The fight was high energy all the way and had the enthusiastic and vibrant Greek crowd on their feet throughout much of the contest cheering on the popular Arnaoutis. Tyner came out strong in rounds one and two, often backing Arnaoutis up while landing heavy rights and lefts. Arnaoutis picked up the pace in the third round and kept the fight in the center of the ring while landing crisp jabs and hard body shots. Amir Khan stopped Graham Earl in round one. Earl was caught by a Khan left hook and never responded. Khan downed Earl early on in the round with a flurry of right hooks, forcing Earl to take an 8 count. Khan then attacked the vulnerable Earl and the referee stopped the fight with Earl defenseless and on the ropes.
